A shooting Friday morning at a mobile home park in Orcutt left a 39-year-old Santa Maria man with a gunshot wound to his leg and ended with the arrest of an alleged suspect, 55-year-old Aylett Hauki, also of Santa Maria.

Upon responding to the 1600 block of East Clark Avenue on a report of a victim who was shot in the leg, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered that the shooting had happened in front of Hauki’s home after an argument with the victim and that Hauki remained inside his home, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

A reverse 9-1-1 safety warning went out to nearby residents, advising them to take shelter indoors. Sheriff’s deputies were soon able to contact Hauki via cellphone and he peacefully surrendered himself to deputies. He was taken into custody and will be booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on alleged charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
