Cross Avicii off that EDM artist list. In Stories, the Swedish deejay blends electronic music with a variety of genres: Zac Brown Band brings a little bit of country to “Broken Arrows”; singer/songwriter Zak Abel’s rhythms of gritty blues are infused into “Ten More Days”; “Can’t Catch Me,” featuring Matisyahu and Wyclef Jean, has a dash of reggae; and “Pure Grinding” offers bursts of funk and hip-hop, thanks to Kristoffer Fogelmark and Def Jam’s Earl St. Clair. Avicii fills the other tracks with alternative pop and dance beats. Continuing to earn his title as a progressive deejay, Avicii successfully explores boundaries beyond the EDM realm.
