6/5: Running: Hoka One One State Street Mile:  Runners of all ages and abilities, including amputees, can line up with their peers and race over the iconic distance of 1,760 yards. There are seven age groupings (from younger than 14 to older than 60); a family mile; elite races; and a dog walk and run. Last year’s race produced the fastest dog mile on record as San Luis Obispo’s Josh Helton and his dog Bro (pit bull and lab mix) covered the distance in 4:15. A purse of $5,700 will be distributed to top finishers (with $1,000 bonuses going to anybody who breaks the women’s record of 4:33 or the men’s of 3:49). New this year is the Nobbe Amputee Mile (above- and below-the-knee divisions). The 17th annual event Sunday raises money for the District Attorney’s Crime Victim Emergency Fund. 8am. State Street from Pedregosa St. to De la Guerra St. Participation: $5 (family mile)-$35. Visit sbmile.com.
