Under faculty advisor Kevin McKee, five Dos Pueblos High School students prevailed in a national hacking competition organized by Carnegie Mellon University called Toaster Wars. John Grosen, Andrew Dutcher, Alex Meiburg, Delia Bullock, and Charlie Green, otherwise known as Team 1064°C Bread, won $8,000 for their schools and $4,000 for themselves. The competition offers a legal avenue for secondary school students to hone their cyber security skills. They were asked to decrypt a message carried by a crash-landed space robot.
