Santa Barbara County officials on 5/13 continued to press forward with efforts to build a new North County jail, agreeing to contracts with several consultants related to the construction and design of the 376-bed jail, scheduled to open in 2017. The contracts the Board of Supervisors agreed to this week were built into the $96.1 million total cost of the project, $80 million of which will be covered by a state grant.
