The City of Goleta is holding a special, interactive District Elections Workshop on Monday, August 2, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall (130 Cremona Drive). Not only will community members hear about the process of moving to District Elections for the first time in the City’s almost 20-year history, but the public will also learn how to draw and submit their own suggested district boundaries using online tools or a paper map. Bring your laptop and/or pencil and plan to be a part of this important and unique opportunity to help shape the future of Goleta. Spanish interpretation is available.

In November of 2022, the City of Goleta will move to District Elections. While the Mayor will still be elected at large, the City will be divided into four geographic districts and you will vote for one council member from your district. Public participation is an important part of deciding district boundaries for the City.

The August 2nd District Elections Workshop will include a presentation, tutorial, and “hands-on” practice using the online mapping tools available at www.DrawGoleta.org. Face coverings are required. Paper maps will be available as well for those who prefer that method. Demographers and City Staff will be there to help attendees as they practice drawing and submitting their own maps.

More information, including access to the online mapping tools, a schedule of events, and FAQs, are available at www.DrawGoleta.org. There you can also find can find recordings of previous workshops. Maps must be received by January 6, 2022, for consideration.
