Miss Tickle, A.K.A. Claudia Bratton is known for…

Claudia Bratton’s interest in hats begins in her childhood and her artistic endeavors began then too.  Her mother taught her sumi-e painting very early.  Her parents enjoyed costumes which she enjoyed and so she was a great fit with Summer Solstice Celebration.  She became involved in 1982 upon moving back to Santa Barbara Michael Gonzales commissioned her to design the first Solstice T-Shirt.  She became the executive director in 1999 and served for 16 years in that capacity.  She loves making costumes and of course the head gear to go with it. She continues as an artist in residence with Solstice each year and also runs their junior artist program, which gets youth involved in the workshop and teaches the variety of skills to kids 13-21.

This is an Artober/Fall for the Arts event – Stroll around the ARTS District from place to place, discovering what each business has to offer! Events from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday October 20th. Part of Santa Barbara’s ARTOBER celebration, a month-long arts and cultural extravaganza bringing out the best from our vibrant music, art, dance, theater communities.
