Online Story Gathering Workshop for Veterans
**Events may have been canceled or postponed. Please contact the venue to confirm the event.
Date & Time
Tue, Jul 21 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
The Santa Barbara Public Library and Berkeley-based StoryCenter invite you to join a special online story sharing and writing workshop for our veteran community. During these times, we thought it important for people to have a chance to gather and listen to each others’ stories, and make something creative, in this case a short written story (one page).
The program will have you respond to a simple prompt, and lead you through a simple group feedback process, with then a chance to re-write and share your story. The gathering will be led by one of StoryCenter’s facilitators, with years of experience in creating safe and supportive spaces for helping people share stories, in person as well as online.
You are a veteran or family-member / loved one of a veteran.
You will need internet access and a computer, smart phone or tablet able to run the Zoom conferencing software (most newer computers can).
If you are interested, just go to https://www.storycenter.org/story-gathering-workshop-santabarbara and apply/register. Space is limited, registration required.
This program is possible thanks to the Community Conversations with Veterans partnership between California Center for the Book and Veterans Connect @ the Library. The initiative offers California libraries the opportunity to connect more closely with veterans and their families, while also helping veterans and their families connect to the community and resources.
