The Santa Barbara ELKS Lodge #613 is hosting a Subsistence Angler Fishing Event (SAFE) to teach and provide fishing gear to people who struggle to put food on the family table.

The SAFE Event will be held Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at the base of the pier at Goleta Beach County Park from 11:00AM to 2:00PM.

A number of new rods/reels/gear – fully ready to fish – will be provided. Capt. David Bacon, a 30-year fishing boat captain and educator, will give an instructional talk.

Member of the ELKS Lodge and CCA will assist people to practice their new skills to catch fish.

The SAFE Event is designed to bring to life the old parable, “Give a person a fish and they eat for a day. Teach a person to fish and they eat for a lifetime.”
