Last weekend, August 2-4, Chicago’s Grant Park played host to its eighth annual Lollapalooza, which boasted a bill that includes some of the nation’s hottest live music acts. While Friday and Sunday’s festivities went off without a hitch, Saturday’s Lolla attendees had to brave a massive storm — and for the first time in festival history, evacuate the grounds — due to weather conditions. But a little rain never stopped 60,000-plus music fans from having a good time; after an incident-free 3:30 p.m. evacuation, the party re-started at around 6 p.m.
Here, Independent photographer Thomas Long brings us the best of the fest, including shots of The Black Keys, At the Drive In, and Jack White.
