First on this week’s Poodle Radio, it’s a conversation about philanthropy in Santa Barbara. Colin Marshall talks to Alixe Mattingly, Vice President of Communications and Marketing at the Santa Barbara Foundation, and Cynder Sinclair of Santa Barbara County Neighborhood Clinics. The Santa Barbara Foundation recently used $2.3 million of “Impact Grants” to help 45 local nonprofits improve the community, and even that’s just one piece of their larger mission to foster a network of nonprofits in Santa Barbara.

Then, Indy sports reporter John Zant and UCSB Gauchos coach Tim vom Steeg drop into the studio to talk about the College Cup, coming this weekend to UCSB’s Harder Stadium. When vom Steeg first began coaching the Gauchos, he got right to work on harnessing the team’s unrealized potential. His efforts have paid off: not has he helped the Gauchos now play better soccer than they ever have, but, in the College Cup, he’s brought the highest-profile soccer matches Santa Barbara has seen.

The show’s music is organized, as always, by Indy Pop Culture Editor Aly Comingore. This week’s tracks include Tokyo Police Club’s “Frankenstein” and Skyler Stonestreet’s “Magazine Paper”. You can tune into Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
