First on this week’s Poodle Radio, it’s a conversation with Indy intern Rhys Alvarado and Santa Barbara dentist James Rolfe, founder of the Afghanistan Dental Relief Project. Rhys has written the cover story for this year’s Peace on Earth issue on James Rolfe the ADRP: the inspiration behind it, the challenges facing its founding, and its operations out of a converted shipping crate. Then, Indy Executive Editor Nick Welsh returns to talk to John McReynolds, author of the new historical study Vanished: Lompoc’s Japanese, an examination of the small Japanese community driven out of Lompoc by agricultural competition and World War II-era internment

There’s also plenty of music on this week’s show, organized as always by Indy Pop Culture Editor Aly Comingore. The tracks include the work of artists like Tommy + the High Pilots, ALO, Willie Nelson, Mat Kearney, and Wetlands, all of whom will play S.B. soon. You can tune into Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
