First on this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall talks to David Starkey, current Poet Laureate of Santa Barbara. In addition to his poetic duties, he heads the Creative Writing department at Santa Barbara City College and hosts Channel 21’s The Creative Community, which Colin profiled in the Indy in 2008. Then, Barney Brantingham drops in to talk about the Santa Barbara Public Library’s adult literacy program, which helps people from all walks of life, including dyslexics and immigrants who need to learn English as a second language, to improve their reading skills.

As always, the show’s music is organized by Indy Pop Culture Editor Aly Comingore, who this week brings tracks from the Colin L. Orchestra, Kimya Dawson, and the Givers, all of whom are scheduled to play Santa Barbara soon. You can tune in to Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
