Now that South by Southwest has come to a close, I’ve had some time to process the numerous videos I took with my handy Flip camera. The resulting footage isn’t professional by any means, but offers a little taste of what SXSW is like for those who’ve never been. They’re all digestibly short and the sound isn’t too bad – except when Metallica goes so loud you can’t hear anything – so check ’em out when you have the chance, or let ’em play as you work for a little musical entertainment.

So here’s some street scenes, from Sixth Street madness to dirty outhouses to peddy cab rides. (About 3 minutes)

And here’s the Metallica show, which starts with the national Guitar Hero championships. (Little over 6 minutes)

A late night rap show at Club Deville, featuring Lady Sovereign and Asher Roth (Less than 2 minutes)

Best of all, a healthy chunk of the Bedouin Soundclash’s Saturday night (well, technically, Sunday 1 a.m.) set at El Sol Y La Luna. This was the best show I saw the whole time, and numerous people – including many who’d been to way more showcases and previous SXSWs than me – could only agree. (About 4 minutes)

And lastly, during a 3 a.m. set or so at the Purevolume House, many of us were treated to some folk-rock-world-insanity from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. (Less than 2 minutes)
