Linda Jane Rice

August 21,1948 – April 7, 2010

Linda Jane Rice of Santa Ynez, California, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2010 at the age of 61 at Cottage Hospital of Santa Barbara with her family by her side. Linda was born August 21, 1948 in San Diego, Ca. to and predeceased by Jean White- Engelman and survived by her 86 year old father Warren Engleman of San Diego.

Linda is survived by her beloved Husband of 41 years Fred Rice and was the mother of three children; her son Bion, and two daughters Ashley, and Brittany Rice as well as her two grandchildren Miles and Mason Rice. Linda was a loving mother, wife and friend whom had always cared for her family and considered them her greatest accomplishment and yet had many outstanding accomplishments in her 45 year career ranging from real-estate broker and developer to vintner.

Linda was a supporter of environmental preservation through organics and wanted this world to be a healthy environment for future generations. She was the matriarch of Sunstone Vineyards and Winery where she created a magical spot with her husband and family as a place where they and their friends could enjoy being together. She was truly an amazing woman who not only will be missed by her family and friends but by her employees, neighbors and business associates.

The family will be having a private memorial for her and are asking not to send flowers but to make a donation made in her memory to either the Rona Barrett Fountation or to Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara.
