Lauren Patricia Poirier
It is with profound shock and sadness that we announce that our beautiful daughter, Lauren Patricia Poirier passed away on December 11, 2019. She gave life to a baby boy, Laurenzo Joseph Navarro who was born at 10:56 AM on December 11, 2019.
At this writing of the obituary her parents, Laurence and Karen Poirier, and the father of baby Laurenzo, Noe Navarro are grieving. Our lives will never be the same. However, the outpouring of love and support we have received from family, friends, and the Community is overwhelming. Lauren was loved by so many.
She was born on July 7, 1986 and was one of the first babies to be delivered in the new Birthing Center at Goleta Valley Hospital. She was a wonderful happy baby. Lauren started school at El Rancho, and then moved to Brandon School, then Goleta Valley Junior High, and then on to Dos Pueblos High School. She was a cheerleader starting from 7th grade to her senior year in high school.
Lauren worked in many positions including graduating from Santa Barbara City College with a license as a Cosmetologist. However, Lauren always wanted to help and care for everyone. She entered the medical field at Sansum Clinic from 2011 to 2013 as a Clinical Medical Assistant. During these years, she attended Santa Barbara City College taking courses to further her degree in nursing. She then transferred to Cottage Hospital from October 2013 to November 30, 2019 and worked as a Unit Care Technician in the Surgical ICU and then Unit Coordinator in the Cottage Hospital Emergency Department. Her maternity leave started on December 1, 2019.
Lauren was an amazing woman. She cared so much for her family, her friends, their family and children, and the family of co-workers she had at Cottage, the patients and their families. She has seen so much and automatically went into her medical and caring mode for the patients and their families. She along with her co-workers, the doctors, nurses, staff, first responders, Police Department, EMTs, Santa Barbara and Montecito Fire Departments all worked together as a team during times of tragedy. She so admired all of them and wanted to live her life as they all do…. helping others.
Lauren had a large family and so many friends, too many to list. However I know she would want all of you to carry on and be strong. She especially wants her baby boy, Laurenzo to live a healthy and happy life. We will all make sure that baby boy has an abundance of love.
Her mom and dad, Karen and Larry Poirier, and family as well as the father of her child, Noe Navarro, and his family want to thank everyone for their outpouring love and support during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday January 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Mission Rose Garden across from the Santa Barbara Mission. Please bring chairs and blankets for your own comfort. This event will be held come rain or shine so please bring cover if necessary. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
