Xavier Steven “Charlie” Perez
Our beloved brother, Xavier S. “Charlie” Perez, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones, after complications following an organ transplant. Charlie was born to Arturo and Anna Marie Perez on May 2, 1963, in Santa Barbara, where he attended Dolores School and graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1981.
Charlie had many passions, which he explored through his work at local restaurants and as a graphic designer and travel agent. He worked for the Santa Barbara MTD for 15 years, where his genial spirit and appreciation for the community shone. His greatest joy in life was being “Pops” to his 3 amazing children, who were the lights of his life. Charlie loved fiercely. His kind heart and warm smile will be remembered and missed by all. He will live on through his love for and dedication to his family and his love of Giants’ football and karaoke.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Arturo Perez Sr. and Anna Marie Martinez-Perez, and brother, Arturo “Burgie” Perez. He is survived by his children, Steven, Nicolas, and Isabela Murillo-Perez, sisters, Diana Perez, Rachel Perez-Crisenberry (Ken), and Marcia Perez, and nephews and nieces, Hugo and Anthony Perez, Arturo Perez III, Jason Crisenberry, Lauren VanVeelen, and Sofia and Enrique Perez-Guzman.
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and the 3 Wishes Program, as well as Charlie’s organ donor and their family for their immense sacrifice.
We will contact family privately regarding a Mass and celebration of life for our brother at a later date.
God Bless You, Charlie! Forever in our hearts… Rachel, Marcia, and families
