Description:

Soprano Kirsten Reed presents an art song recital, collaborating with her will be pianist Renée Hamaty and flutist Suzanne Duffy, in music of Satie, Caplet, Delibes, Debussy, Berlioz, Dvorak, Saint-Saens, Ferroud and Ravel.

Kristen Reed, is a professional soprano, who studied at CSU Long Beach, Mannes School of Music, and L'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. She has performed operatic roles throughout France, Italy, Switzerland, and the United States; such as Musetta in La Boheme, Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Frasquita in Carmen, and the title role of Massenet's Manon. She recently debuted with Opera Santa Barbara as one of their chorus members in La Traviata, and Orphée et Euridice.

After living in Paris and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, she fell in love with the art of the French Chanson. Much like the culture of the country from which it was born, this music demands a particular mood, and finesse from its performer. Each of these composers were inspired by a country that contains a romantic view of its beautiful natural surroundings, as well as the very la vie en rose perspective on the nature of love. This recital program contains all of these variables, and she hopes to deliver them to the audience, with the interpretation for which they were intended.
