The Skinny: With his rock sound and bluesy lyrics, Mark Roberts touches on love, religion, and politics encompassing California life. A Santa Barbara resident since 1979, Roberts gathered his four-member band five years ago, and has since produced two albums full of original songs. “Kiss the Sky” and “Roadkill” focus on the relationships between men and women while the semi-political “Quagmire” draws inspiration from current world affairs. His newest song “Fool Train” satirizes political promises that haven’t been kept. In addition, Roberts finds songwriting ideas while performing and traveling along the coastline. In the works is Roberts’ third CD, to be released this fall.
Next Gig: May 27, Cold Spring Tavern
