Caltrans is headed toward installing a safety barrier along the Cold Spring Canyon Bridge along Highway 154 in an effort to prevent suicides. A multi-agency task force, formed to discuss ideas for how to prevent further suicides at the bridge, met on 7/25. The $605,000 project—funded by the state and featuring six-foot-tall iron bars whose tops curl in toward the roadway—wouldn’t be completed until 2010.
