Downtown Citibank Held Up

Police Seek Serial Bank Robber

FBI and police are searching for the man responsible for robbing the State Street Citibank location on the morning of Saturday, June 2.

According to police, the man held up Citibank tellers just after 10:30 a.m. No weapon was observed despite the suspect telling witnesses he was armed. No one was injured in the incident. The man reportedly fled by foot and was last seen near La Cumbre Plaza. Citibank re-opened later that day. At this time, authorities consider the suspect armed and dangerous.

Police link the suspect with up to 11 bank robberies in Southern California since December 2006. FBI sent assistance Saturday afternoon and is expected to coordinate closely with the Santa Barbara Police Department in the search.

Authorities are looking for a male about 5‘8, weighing 150 to 175 pounds, with short sandy colored hair, and 45 to 55-years-old.

Contact the Santa Barbara Police for information at 897-2355.
