This year the KioskCom Award of Excellence goes to Santa Barbara’s own medial and technology company, Vital-Signz. As 2007’s official “Industry Supplier of the Year,” the company is recognized for their “Virtual Visitor Center,” an innovative high-definition video type of virtual tour which is currently used in many local points of interest, including the Maritime Museum and the Santa Barbara Zoo.

Since 2002, the KioskCom expo has been meeting to show off and reward the most successful and creative new designs for interactive digital media solutions. It’s the place to be for any organization or company looking to display their new ideas for digital solutions or just to find ways to utilize this relatively new, but rapidly expanding form of media.

What makes Vital-Signz’s “Virtual Visitor Centers” the winner is their the combination of user-friendly interaction with eye-catching high-definition screens. The design also generates revenue for the museums, as the virtual tours incorporate advertising along with the cultural and historic presentations of the videos.

Props to Vital-Signz for giving the historical and cultural sites of Santa Barbara a high-tech gloss.
