The Talking Heads frontman and the so-called “Father of Ambient Music” re-team some 26 years after their first collaboration effort, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, to craft an album that is equal parts orchestral pop genius and stripped down brilliance. For the record, Byrne’s vocals alone could make a rave worthy recording. But here, they are structured and presented in so many different ways (keyboard backed and country tinged on “My Big Nurse,” harmonized and soaring on “One Fine Day”) as to create a collection that begs to be played over and over again. For his part, Eno allows himself to think outside of the box without overwhelming listeners with insanely forward-thinking compositions. Case in point: “Wanted for Life”-a warbled electro mix of sing speech and synth that sounds about as trippy as it gets. All this from two artists who have been in the game longer than many of their contemporaries have been out of diapers.
