DUI for Gary Collins

Former Talk Show Host and Miss America Emcee Arrested Saturday in Summerland

Talk show host Gary Collins was arrested Saturday night in Summerland on suspicion of DUI. The former Miss America host, who has also appeared in dozens of movies and television shows over the years, was driving a motor home and pulled over for “driving erratically” at the intersection of Lillie Avenue and Olive Street, according to the California Highway Patrol arrest report.

He was cooperative at the scene, but allegedly failed to pass the field sobriety tests and was arrested. Collins opted for a blood test over a breathalyzer.

Collins was found not guilty of a DUI in 2002, and pleaded no contest to DUI charges stemming from a 2007 collision. The driver in that incident, who was at fault for not yielding during a left turn, died in the crash. Collins was sentenced to four days in jail and four years probation, which he is still currently on.
