Nine-Vehicle Crash at Gaviota

Moderate and Minor Injuries

A nine vehicle crash backed up traffic on southbound Highway 101 at Gaviota this morning.

The Santa Barbara Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded just before 7:20 a.m. to the scene of the collision, which blocked traffic in one lane for some time.

Five people with moderate injuries were taken to the hospital via ambulance, while four other patients were treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the CHP.
