Conservative Group Hires Obama Impersonator

COLAB, the conservative North County group headed by Andy Caldwell, has come under scrutiny— specifically within the San Luis Obispo New Times‘s “Shredder” column—for inviting Steve Bridges, a white man, to perform as President Barack Obama at its annual dinner. Bridges is a longtime presidential impersonator, and also impersonated Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, as well as former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. COLAB had Bridges perform a few years ago as Bush, and Caldwell said his act, while filled with digs at each of the presidents, is “respectful of the office.”
