Eastside Library to Open Monday Afternoons

New Hours Begin March 5

The Santa Barbara City Council voted on Tuesday to approve a resolution written by council members Murillo and White adding $6,800 to this year’s Eastside Branch Library budget in order to open the library on Monday afternoons, beginning March 5.

The library has been closed on Mondays since July, 2010, due to budget cuts.

“We are very pleased to be able to reopen the Eastside Library on Monday afternoons,” said Irene Macias, Library System Director. “This is an important place for students of all ages in the neighborhood, and provides study space, computers, books and other resources for the residents.” The Monday hours will be from 1:30 to 5:30 PM. Located at 1102 E. Montecito St., the Eastside branch is one of six libraries in the Santa Barbara Public Library System, and will now be open a total of 43.5 hours per week.
