Los Prietos Boys Camp Escape Attempt

Two Teens Leave Speaking Engagement at Zodo’s Bowling Alley

During a Tuesday afternoon speaking engagement at Zodo’s Bowling and Beyond in Goleta, two 17-year-olds from Los Prietos Boys Camp — an alternative detention facility for troubled youth — tried to escape custody and prompted a massive search involving several law enforcement agencies, a helicopter, and K-9 units. They had reportedly just walked out the building’s front door, said Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Mark Williams. Several hours later the boys were located on nearby Agana Drive and apprehended without incident.
