UCSB, which scored a historic victory over the Cal Golden Bears on Friday at the Thunderdome, will return to action Sunday, Dec. 15, at the University of San Diego. The Gauchos’ 72-65 victory, powered by Alan Williams’ 24 points and 12 rebounds, was their first over Cal in 11 meetings.

In college soccer, Westmont has returned to the NAIA women’s championship match for the first time since 2003. The Warriors (17-1-5) advanced by winning a penalty-kick shootout by a 7-6 score against Northwood (Fla.). They rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the second half of regulation time to tie the score 2-2, and it stayed that way through the overtime periods. Westmont’s opponent in the final today at Orange Beach, Alabama, is Concordia of Oregon (21-1-1).

Several holiday running events are coming up this month. On Sunday, Dec. 8, red will be the attire of the morning at the Santa Claus 5K & Mile Fun Run.
