Still rocking after 40 years, the Solstice Parade once again delivered the closest approximation of Carnival one can find in Santa Barbara. This year’s creature-themed affair featured a live wedding-on-a-float, a City Council dressed up as Wizard of Oz characters, and of course booty-bumping Brazilian dancers. If the longest day of the year still wasn’t quite long enough for you, no worries. Photographer Mike Clark was on the scene to capture all of Saturday’s art-loving, sun-worshipping, inhibition-absconding shenanigans so you can bask in the party one more time.

Solstice was awesome this year. People were nice, cops were cool, the one complaint I heard was $5 to get in the beer garden and then $10 for a beer. This is hearsay. On a brighter note, I think it is cool that it is only one day long and doesn't turn into a week long fiasco. Even the weather cooperated on Saturday and then chilled on Sunday. I like the one day local theme. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
