Gregg Hart Announces Run for Council

Former City Councilmember Gregg Hart on 6/25 formally announced his campaign to reprise his role after an eight-year hiatus. Present to show support for the moderate Democrat were councilmembers Cathy Murillo and Grant House, the latter of whom will be termed out at the end of the year. Conspicuously absent was Mayor Helene Schneider, who has expressed concern that Hart’s day job as public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments will interfere with his ability to objectively represent the city. Hart cited housing, transportation, and environmental protection as central concerns.
