Sports Highlights: Oct. 18-24

Dos Pueblos High will vie for a sweep of its city football rivals tonight (Fri., Oct. 18) when it hosts the San Marcos Royals at Scott O’Leary Stadium. The Chargers got off to a fast start at Santa Barbara last week and defeated the Dons, 28-12. San Marcos lost its Channel League opener to Ventura, only its second loss in seven games. Dos Pueblos is 3-4 but can stay on top of the league standings with a win tonight. Santa Barbara hosts Buena in the other league game.

Orange County water polo powers Servite and Esperanza will be playing at Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos today and Saturday.

UCSB women’s volleyball and soccer; Westmont soccer; and UCSB men’s water polo are other attractions on tap this weekend.


Friday, 10/18: Women’s volleyball – Cal State Northridge at UCSB, 7 pm. Women’s soccer – UC Riverside at UCSB, 7 pm.

Saturday, 10/19: Women’s soccer – Arizona Christian at Westmont, 12 pm. Men’s soccer – Arizona Christian at Westmont, 2:30 pm. Women’s volleyball – CSU San Marcos at Westmont, 5 p.m.; UC Davis at UCSB, 7 pm. Football – SBCC at Antelope Valley, 7 pm.

Sunday, 10/20: Men’s water polo – California at UCSB, 12 pm.

Tuesday, 10/22: Men’s soccer – Sacramento State at UCSB, 7 pm; Canyons at SBCC, 7:30 pm.

Wednesday, 10/23: Women’s volleyball – Ventura at SBCC, 6 pm.
