Hola, New Minority Members

Hola! This alert is for all non-Hispanic whites whom we Latinos now outnumber in California.

First, we expect you to learn Spanish. We will no longer tolerate side discussions in English we cannot understand. Spanish was spoken here long before you arrived. Either attend language school or move on.

Second, if you wish to remain, we expect you to assimilate. We can no longer accept you living in all-white segregated communities with no intent of integrating into our way of life. Either fit in with the rest of us or move on.

Third, your white collar crimes are far out of proportion to the percentage you represent in the general population. These include corporate safety and environmental violations, bank fraud, stock manipulation, embezzlement, and tax evasion — all of which bring heavy costs to those of us who work hard to earn an honest living. Either change your ways, go to jail, or move on.

Fourth, we Latinos tend to be somewhat more religious than non-Hispanic whites. Many of us still believe God is an active force in our lives. Meanwhile, non-Hispanic whites have led the way to secular priorities, non-belief, and even atheism. Whatever your religious or spiritual inclination, either return to the strong family values we Hispanics value highly or move on.

As a new minority in California, non-Hispanic whites have an opportunity to become valued citizens of our state, but the demographics have shifted and expectations are higher. Just remember, exciting changes are within your reach, and we are here to help!
