Independent Discussion Guidelines

While gangs and housing density are very important issues for the City, keeping our libraries OPEN longer and increasing their budgets seems equally important. One way to help young people find something constructive to do is make libraries and teen centers and youth sports leagues going. SB Main Library needs to be open longer hours and more days, with a bigger book buying budget as well as more open computer terminals. Homeless, elderly, aimless, and young people all congregate in these important spaces. I know Ms. Murillo, our new Council member-elect, has specifically campaigned to keep our libraries open longer and every day of the week.
How often do the mobile library vans go out? We used to see one at least once a week here on the Westside, parked on Gillespie Street next to Harding School. Bring back the mobile vans and bring back the bicycle cops.
