County Supervisor Salud Carbajal is seeking community members who live in the First District and are interested in serving on the Montecito Planning Commission (MPC); Advisory Board on Alcohol and Drug Problems (ADP); County Fish and Game Commission; and the North County Board of Architectural Review (NBAR).
“Serving on County Boards and Commissions provides a unique opportunity for members of the public to participate in local government by offering their insight and knowledge on critical issues affecting the quality of life in our community” said Supervisor Carbajal.
The following is a brief description of the subject the Boards and Commissions:
Montecito Planning Commission:
The MPC acts as the land use decision making authority for the Montecito Planning Area. It is charged with implementing and upholding the Montecito Community Plan policies. Applicants must live within the Montecito Planning Area.
Advisory Board on Alcohol and Drug Problems:
The purpose of the Advisory Board is to provide a forum to obtain comprehensive, broad-based input from the community and other sources that can be utilized to advise the Santa Barbara County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services Department.
County Fish and Game Commission:
Members must be familiar with matters pertaining to fish and wildlife. Duties include making recommendations on conservation projects and propagation of fish and wildlife resources and making recommendations on the disbursement of fines and revenue collected from infractions of the State Fish and Wildlife Code.
North County BAR:
The purpose of the NBAR is to encourage development that exemplifies professional design practices and provide enhanced opportunities for public participation in local design issues in the unincorporated areas of the County north of the City of Lompoc. Applicants must be a licensed architect or landscape architect.
