I was shocked to hear that Barry Berkus had passed away from Leukemia. Ironically enough, my father also passed away from the same illness. Barry Berkus was an inspiration to me as far as architecture and design were concerned. Even though I never went into Architecture myself, I always admired his design aesthetic. He reminded of a modern Frank Lloyd Wright, as the designs were similar. I remember when I first saw one of his residences in Home Builder 20 years ago and then another home of his in Architectural Digest, I was awestruck by his creativity. Another home I will never forget was a home he designed in Greenwich, CT that used Copper as a conductive source for energy. He was always on the cutting edge of design. I wish I could have met him in person, but I am afraid it is too late for that now. Rest in Peace, Barry.
