Still at a loss why America is still using obsolete business practices such as checking instruments? Oh well, you'll be further surprised to know that America is, in fact, still using the Imperial System of measurements...proof that many of the so-called 'pioneering' immigrants, to this day, still live under the skirt of a queen :)

Michael Witherell is dead wrong on that. The U.S. investment in science research had quadrupled in recent years, albeit only concentrated to weapons industry.
I'd like to think, however, that he meant to say that the U.S. has twisted priorities when it comes to things that really matter.
