"Go to Church"...in the 70's my father and our neighbor dragged me to Laguna Park where they had been given access to "recycle" the park before it was demolished. It was built out of "first-cut vertical-grain" redwood...a prize my father could not resist. We took the wood home to Mountain Drive, where it was painstakingly wire-brushed and ultimately became the siding on our home. For those who remember the "Go to Church" sign on the outfield fence, it became siding on our work shed...readily recognized by all that came to visit. Sadly, my childhood home was one of the first to go in the Tea fire...We also ended up with the "Laguna Park" neon sign, which my father gave to the Shelton family years ago...it was restored and hangs along with the Foster's Freeze and many other SB neon lights...
