I agree with the basic message here. My concern is that I don't see the student's voice. The importance of self-determination cannot be underestimated. Teaching the student the skills to have a voice in their transition process is key. Being involved in their IEP meetings, having choices about how they transition to the new environment and creating independence so that the student has the confidence to pursue friendships are the most important pieces. These skills will transfer to increased succes throughout high school and beyond.l
