The point J Adams misses is we can squeeze all the blood left in the California turnip and not have it be worth a bucket of warm spit while the rest of the country and the rest of the world is leaving us in their carbon emission dust bin.
But Adams just can't seem to take his self-hating hair shirt off which makes me question his deeper principles and what exactly is his dog in this fight. Self-loathing seems to be a big part of the Church of Green - the whole original sin concept, with not a small dose of Holier than Thou mixed in as well.
If the greenies would only stop smoking pot, they would be more credible.

Actually, it was WWII that ended the Great Depression. History now shows Roosevelt's programs prolonged the Depression. But the New Deal myth continues among those who need to justify spending other people's money.
You are forgiven. And mark my word, I am no fan of using wars for anything other than clear and direct self-defense.
Cherry-picking biblical references is not the issue; having an authentic belief system is. lacumbre mocks Christianity so I suggest he/she does not twist it for his/her own agenda. Unless of course lacumbre is now claiming to be a bona fide biblical literalist. That was not apparent.

We don't need to build more housing in Santa Barbara. It is built out. Go someplace else.

Yes the only change one can really talk about with certainty is the massive population change. Get a chicken and grow lentils in your back yard is all I can offer.

That pack of huddled immigrants "yearning to breathe free" did darn well on their own with their own initiatives - before Roosevelt socialism created the mess we have now.
If you mock, Christianity, don't cherry pick it for your own agenda.

I hear there is a lot of buyer's remorse going on these days at SBCC. Since the Independent led the war cry for major change, how's all that workin' out for you?

They are condos. How about Hillside Condos, but then the city put so many whistles and bells on this project you have to know who is still calling the shots.
All we know is 99% of city-mandated inclusionary housing are duds in the market. So if it takes dressing up this latest city pig in a new tutu, more power to the marketers.
But what it really tells you is these dogs ain't moving. Stay tuned to see how they re-invent city mandated inclusionary Chapala One next.
So far city inclusionary projects sell for the few who win the low-income lottery (to their later regret) and those who purchase for short-term rental speculations. Darn, there goes that Law of Unintended Consequences. Wouldn't we have all felt a lot better if at least one city council person was living in one of their utopian housing scheme monsters?
Get out of the housing business, City of Santa Barbara. You have already distorted the market, voting patterns and demographics of this town to do it major long-term damage.
