I just stopped by the info kiosk at paseo nuevo. It has maps and press releases and was updated this morning. (you can find out the same info online) but it is helpful if youre out and about and dont have web access.Knock on wood, but the fire is looking far away from houses right now. Hope the winds cooperate.

MakeItWork, citrix webinar is about the dumbest way EVER to "steam video". It works in a pinch, but its ghetto, just embed the feed and refresh it every few sec.
Not to mention the makeitwork feed is streaming am radio from los angeles?? At LEAST carry a local feed like AM 990, 1290, 1490 or something.

Will we get the cat carriers back? I have one I could possibly loan, but I would need it back as I cant afford another one.

Does anyone know if the botanic gardens burned? The maps Ive seen look as if the garden was toasted, which would be such a shame.Good luck to everyone out there today with the winds, and if anyone needs a temporary loving home for a small pet, send me a message, we live on the west side and would be happy to house a little family member.

Yeah seriously. Theyre brave to do what they do but they are negligent in not opening the sycamore canyon gate. Who cares if its caltrans that has the key, if people need to evacuate, you pull that gate off its hinges. People has to drive the LONG way past the fire and through it. If people died, it would have been their fault. What a joke.

do not click on video links to a metacafe "video" about the fire, the link prompts you to install "video codecs" that are FULL of viruses, stay away. I very narrowly escaped getting it myself.Damn shameful that someone would be capitalizing on this crisis to try to spread viruses. Probably the same douche who started the fire.

There are 36 SBCC students currently monitoring the fire from Hanoi, Vietnam on our study abroad trip. Many of us are concerned for our houses or for friends and family. Thank you for the updates and please keep up the good work. Good luck to everyone!
