Great article. I am always wondering what happens to the local boys over in Iraq. Not to mention the personal stories and coverage that the stories deserve. I suppose papers these days don't have much of a budget for such undertakings, plus the risk involved with such stories is a real consideration when trying to cover issues like this. Nevertheless, it should be part of a paper's sense of civic responsibility to make room in their budgets for the harder news that the public needs to be shown so they do not just see important events only on a national scale but also on a local level. I am sure our local papers can find a way to come up with resources to bring us this type of news as well. And we are really limited locally because I do not think to the News Press ( errr which is really the Associate Press) is going to have the civic sensibility for this type of venture.
