Bless you, Nancy, for speaking out on this issue!! My son has nightmares and panic attacks about jail, having spent way too many days and nights there. He is not a criminal; he is sometimes disturbed and, as you say, his thinking seems to be "ordered differently than others." Though sometimes I am frightened for him and for myself, I WILL NOT call 9-1-1 about him. That is not the route to real help for us. Perhaps if they would sit and talk with both of us to HELP mediate the situation, it would be beneficial. But their only answer is to take people to (an already overcrowded) jail. After that, they are caught up in a system that does not help them either, and is a huge cost financially and emotionally. When there might be "help," it comes at a high $ price. I have heard other stories like yours and I would dearly love for the "authorities" to hear more and actually cause change to happen. Was the car also towed for 30 days? Thank you, Nancy.

I am totally with jnm99! All the big budget cuts are things that can really try to help people, rather than a lot of other useless and cosmetic bandaids, for sure! I never cease to be amazed at those "cornhusks" on the east side!!! Not impressed, but amazed at the cost of something so basically frivolous.
