"He's not THAT gay." There's unintended homophobia in that statement.

The Academy acts in mysterious ways. There was no love for GRAN TORINO for they thought it was too commercial perhaps. I thought it would at least get a nod for Clint for Best Actor. I'VE LOVED YOU SO LONG suffered for being with subtitles - and also for the fact the Kristen Scott Thomas was in NYC doing a play and couldn't campaign for the film.

Last night (Thursday), the screening was full about fifteen minutes before the time it was supposed to start. I would suggest you arrive about an hour before to get a good seat.

Dear Goletan,
You can purchase single tickets the day of the show. I would recommend heading towards the larger venues where they're showing movies like the Lobero theatre and the Arlington (all day Monday the Arlington is screening movies.) Or attend the off-peak times like 8 am, 10 am, 1pm and 10pm. If you do not have a pass, I would evade the Metro theatre at 4pm and 7pm screenings. Priority is given to passholders (they go in first) and then single ticket holders. You can also purchase a mini-pak which entitles you to four admissions or two people for two shows or four friends to one screening. There is also a 10 film mini-pak. I hope this answers your question. And I hope you're able to enjoy the Festival.
All the best,
Roger Durling

Mystic River did not win Best Director and Best Picture. It was Unforgiven in 1982 as well as MIllion Dollar Baby that won Best Director and Best Picture.

How could this film be making its Santa Barbara premiere when it played at the Riviera theatre this past Summer?

I was so saddened by the news of this tragedy in my country.
The way Matt Kettmann describes the flight above this region of Panama is absolutely correct. I flew above the volcano region four years ago, and I swore I would never do it again. It was a very scary ride.
