I am offended at being smeared by know-nothings who follow a sensational journalist who also has no scientific education and is proud of it!

She says she has NO SCIENCE BACKGROUND and that makes her perfect for interpreting science/technology to the common man. Like asking the buss boy to explain a gourmet dinner - or having Geo Bush2 in Washington. Science is serious business with rules and discipline. Science won WWII. Capricious interpretations by unqualified people can bring disaster. This woman is PROUD that she has no science training. She should learn to sew!

It's tragic that UCSB has her visiting and sells her lecture for $10! She's sensationalizing possible problems without any background of scientific judgement. When silly people said vaccines contain mercury and cause autism (since totally retracted, even by the author) thousands of parents failed to vaccinate and we lost hundreds of children to a whooping cough epidemic. Ask our Nobel laureates, not some uninformed journalist!

This is what happens when an author and a reporter, both of whom are PROUD to know nothing of science, try to warn the world of an impending disaster! This fiasco is worthy of the SBNP Solvang is Dutch award!

Was SBBT something sacred? When they ran out of real local talent they turned management over to Birch, Thomas and Leis - none with any real banking talent. Thomas was fired over the IRS refund loan program (got $$$ for his shares!), then rehired to run Montecito branch! Ford and the Japanese Union Bank may be making mistakes, but the REAL errors were with the trio of incompetence listed above. Santa Barbarans lost a billion $ in SBBT stock thanks to their lack of talent. Huttenback fired Birch from UCSB and Leis (after Northridge) worked for Deutsche Bank where he glad handed old ladies! Neither had banking talent. Ford bought it for next to nothing after an all night meeting with Leis where Leis was probably beaten to death - with an annual meeting the next morning! What bozo's!

Next they may want to burn the building to make sure the unidentified problem is resolved! Texas management!

How can a whole branch be guilty?? Were they all high on drugs? Better start by looking at George Leis and Ed Birch whose mismanagement sucked a billion$ away from this bank's investors over 5 years. How can anyone in SB have respect for this institution?? Get the story of this latest fiasco!

Probably no one at SBMA knows it but it's the Von Romberg Gallery, not Romberg. He was the son of a German WWI flying ace and his wife from a Boston banking family. He was a polo player and pilot who married a Montecito girl about 1940. Lutah Riggs built them a wonderful house where Dru Barrymore now resides. The Baron von Romberg died at a young age in a plane crash in New Jersey. His widow remarried and as Emily Tremaine amassed an unparalled collection of modern American art. Lord/Lady Ridley Tree bought their titles from an advertisement in a British magazine!
