The Goleta City Council this week heard a proposal for an
industrial business park at the southwest corner of Hollister and
Los Carneros, formerly the Delco property. The 92-acre site is
currently home to some research and development with related
commercial businesses; the Sares-Regis Group would expand the
existing footprint to almost one-million-square-feet. Because the
South Coast has become a commuter destination struggling with a
shortage of workforce housing, the would-be developers have dangled
such pot sweeteners as construction of a Goleta City Hall on the
property. An Environmental Impact Report on the project is due in
May.
