Everyone’s invited to a free celebration next Friday, May 19, to
recognize and trace the history of one of California’s most
valuable resources: the farm laborer. The event highlights two
photo exhibits: Taking Root: A Century of Migrant Workers in
California, at the S.B. Museum of Art, and The New Oakies: A
Tribute to the Strawberry Pickers of Santa Maria Valley, at
Channing Peake. The Oaxacan-style fiesta takes place in the plaza
between the two galleries, from 5-7 p.m.
