FAIRVIEW THEATRE OPENS At long last,
Metropolitan Theatres reopened the Fairview Theatre in Goleta. Once
merely a shabby twin, the place has been remodeled into a triplex
with stadium seating and digital sound. Hollywood revives in the
heart of suburban Goleta.

SUMMERDANCE HONORED On Friday, January 12 at 8
p.m., the Santa Barbara Dance Alliance will present its 10th annual
lifetime achievement award to Summerdance founder Dianne Vapnek and
manager Laurie Burnaby at Center Stage Theater as part of the
alliance’s New Works program. After 10 years, Summerdance recently
stopped its operations, so the award comes at a perfect time.

WINTERSONGS CONFERENCE Songwriters Caroline
Aiken, Severin Browne, Kenny Edwards, Penny Nichols, and Florence
Riggs are converging on Zaca Lake from Friday, January 26 to
Monday, January 29 for a songwriting conference that will tackle
singing, guitar arranging, performing, harmony tuning, and more.
