EXTRA: Jack Overall Selected for MPC
Supervisor Salud Carbajal Names Dick Thielsher’s
Replacement
Supervisor
Salud Carbajal announced Monday afternoon that Jack
Overall (pictured) has been selected to replace
Dick Thielscher on the Montecito
Planning Commission.
Carbajal said his decision was a difficult one because the three
candidates who applied — Overall, retired business executive
J.W. Colin, and writer Stephen Murdoch — were all very
qualified. Thielscher resigned from the area’s planning commission
in December and the seat has since sat vacant. Last month
Sue Burrows was confirmed to take a seat on the
MPC after a delayed approval by the Board of Supervisors. “I chose
Jack Overall because he has had extensive experience within the
community of Montecito,” Carbajal explained. Overall, who has
served on the Montecito Association
for nine years, agreed his strongest qualification was his
experience. He has served as vice president and treasurer of the
Montecito Association and also headed its 101 study team and the
Zoning Ordinance Reformatting Project Team. His appointment will be
placed on next week’s Board of Supervisor agenda for confirmation.
If confirmed, Overall will be seated in time for the February 21
meeting.
