The Rehabilitation Institute of Santa Barbara (RISB) and Cottage Health System are looking into a merger between the two nonprofits. Citing Medicare reductions and rising costs of rehabilitative care, RISB officials say joining with Cottage Hospital may be the only way to continue its services. The organizations have until 7/29 to decide how staffing and financing the partnership might work.
